marker practice with colored pencil and goache.

Study based on Adam Hughes World of art DVD. [link]
Great for learning marker techniques.

Eeep got a daily deviation so before I get praise for this picture at the front like to point out I copied a lot of elements from Adam Hughes so I could practice. [link]

This almost looks like a digital painting. Hope you learned a lot in your study of the DVD!

I really like the flow in this, the way your eye is drawn from the edge of the fabric to her face. It's circular (or maybe a more organic type of figure 8), so it keeps the eye moving, giving the brain time to absorb all the details like the design on her collar and the tassels on the pillow, the way the cloth wraps around her legs. And the background reminds me of the way the clouds sometimes look like... have you ever seen the way water shapes the sand in a very shallow lake? Like little scalloped edges? I don't know what that's called, but that's what I'm thinking of. Or maybe a flagstone terrace? Either way, I like the soft edges, the texture. I also like that you left it monochromatic. Just gorgeous.

Thank you Niksche :hugs: Though I wish the compositional choices were purely my own, I learned them from Adam Hughes world of art DVD and ended up jacking them so I could focus on practicing [link] I don't want to take credit for that XD.

:giggle: I didn't realize the "jacking" was that extensive! Still, it's pretty cool.

I feel so unoriginal, but dang I just wanted to draw and color and turn my brain off for a few hours XD.

Y'know... that doesn't sound like such a bad idea? I wonder if there is an equivalent exercise for writers? Oh! I know! Ad libs!

Maybe RP's if you have writer friend? At least for dialogue practice, and I'd imagine that is like ad libbing.

We've done that in the writer's chats a couple of times. It was a lot of fun.
