Artist's Comments
This is actually one of the first times where I started with the background. Which according to every art book I have read is what I am supposed to do, but the characters are so much more fun for me. But I am happy with how it turned out. By starting with the BG first I force myself to get the biggest and in my case hardest part of the drawing out of the way, so I do not slack after spending hours coloring the characters. Good advice it turns out. I will be following it from now on (maybe).
EDIT (8/17/05): Coming along now. But still need to add details, finish up a few bits and try to meld all the elements together, before I can call it completely done. Final edit (?): Followed the advice of Comments
This is going to look awesome, I remember the first. With the background it is already very striking.
-- Designer, illustrator, comic author, martial artist, globetrotter, tutorial queen... Tutorial collection: [link] The background is absolutly gorgeosu! It's really fitting for the picture, what with the girl and her bird thign (...I forgot the name :0) I can't wait to see the end result
-- ~goodeyesniper-x - Forever [[Love is Genderless]] Yeah the planet does look alittle out of place, but over all it's looking really neat so far. I love the nice flowing strokes with all the snow and such. Can't wait to see it finished
-- "They will not let us help them. They have chosen cunning instead of belief. Their prison is only in their own minds, yet they are in that prison; and are so afraid of being 'taken in' that they cannot be taken out." -Aslan Very pretty. When this is finish, I'll critique. Right now it's hard for me to say.
-- I'm Katara in deviantART's Official Avatar: The Last Airbender Crew ~Incredibles-club ~FMA-ClubLust Fefe Dobson "Sunday Love" album coming soon! I love it. Nothing to say except as you finalize it, make sure the snow creature doesn't fade too much into the background. This is wonderful.
-- Designer, illustrator, comic author, martial artist, globetrotter, tutorial queen... Tutorial collection: [link] That is my big thing actually. I am not quite sure where to put the contrast in. I will probably fade (or darken) the background and make the fur more defined. Or add something to cast a shadow, but I rather like the composition now so if I can't think of something good, or I'll have to tinker with the background.
